Fact-Checking Methodology
Every legal claim on this site is traceable to a primary source. This page documents the steps we follow before publication.
Last Updated: · Reviewed by our Editorial Review Team
Step 1 — Primary source identification
Each statutory claim is matched to a specific code section (e.g., Cal. Penal Code § 261.5). Generic restatements are never accepted.
Step 2 — Cross-verification
The same claim is checked against at least one independent secondary source (Cornell LII, NCSL, the official state legislature site).
Step 3 — Editorial review
A reviewer who did not write the page re-checks every cited section before publication.
Step 4 — Scheduled re-verification
Every published page is re-checked at least quarterly and after any known legislative amendment in the relevant state.
